Taro Yakumo

Born into an art-centered family, with a father who was an art dealer and a mother who worked as a metal engraver, Taro developed an early familiarity with creative expression. While modern Japanese art did not resonate with him, he was strongly influenced by artists such as Taro Okamoto and Pablo Picasso, shaping a distinctive perspective that is not bound by conventional assumptions or ideologies of art.

In the early 2000s, he became engaged with the global contemporary art scene through international art fairs and Asian markets, particularly in South Korea, where he also studied.

Working under the concept “Art is entertainment,” Taro explores the duality of humans and nature and the sense of nostalgia embedded in modern society, developing a multidisciplinary practice across art, music, and culture.
