GINZA SIX Window Display

Two artworks by Taro Yakumo were featured in the ground-floor display windows of GINZA SIX for a ten-day period starting February 29, 2024, as part of a promotional presentation by Artglorieux Gallery for Art Fair Tokyo 2024.

Located at the prominent Ginza 6-chome intersection, the display windows face one of the busiest pedestrian areas in Tokyo, offering exceptional visibility to both local visitors and an international audience.

The presentation served as a prelude to Art Fair Tokyo 2024, introducing his artwork beyond the conventional gallery space and into a highly public, urban context. Displaying artworks at street level in a major department store is a rare opportunity, typically reserved for carefully selected artists and projects.

GINZA SIX, operated by Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Stores, is widely recognized as one of Tokyo’s most influential commercial and cultural destinations. The building has hosted large-scale installations and displays by leading contemporary artists, positioning its exhibition spaces as a significant platform within the contemporary art landscape. GINZA SIX has featured works by internationally acclaimed artists, further establishing its display spaces as a notable platform for artistic presentation in Tokyo.

Within this context, his artwork reached a broad and diverse audience. Notably, passersby who encountered the artworks in the window display visited the Artglorieux Gallery on the 5th floor of GINZA SIX, with some expressing direct interest in acquiring the artworks.

This presentation highlights the role of visibility and accessibility in contemporary art, demonstrating how artworks can engage audiences beyond traditional exhibition formats while maintaining a strong connection to the art market.
