Solo Exhibition - Floppy -
Following his sold-out solo exhibition “ZEN - Beyond the Pop” held at between the arts gallery the previous year, Taro Yakumo presents a new solo exhibition featuring his latest series, “Floppy.”
In the earlier exhibition, Taro explored the coexistence of opposing states, expressing a world in which quiet stillness and a pure Zen-like awareness exist beyond the surface of pop culture. All works from the exhibition were sold, and he has continued to gain strong support by maintaining a practice that responds closely to the expectations of collectors.
His work often incorporates motifs that symbolize contemporary society, capturing elements of the present moment within a pop visual language. In this new series, he turns his focus to the floppy disk.

For those who experienced computers in the 1990s, the floppy disk may not represent a particularly vivid memory, yet it remains something unmistakably embedded in their minds.
Taro reflects, “It is enough to continue creating works that resonate with those who experienced 90s culture. What matters is to keep going.”
Through these works, he hopes to evoke a sense of nostalgia and affection for the era among those familiar with it, while also offering a point of connection for younger generations who may not recognize the floppy disk, allowing this symbol of the 1990s to be passed on.
