Live Painting Performance Itabashi Cultural Hall
Taro Yakumo conducted a live painting performance at Itabashi Cultural Hall on April 22, 2024, as part of a multidisciplinary cultural event organized by the Itabashi Culture and International Exchange Foundation.
The event brought together art and music within a public cultural setting, creating an environment where audiences could directly engage with the creative process. Through this live painting performance, his artwork was produced in real time, emphasizing immediacy, presence, and interaction within a shared space.
Held in the open lobby of a public cultural facility, the performance extended beyond conventional exhibition formats, allowing a broad and diverse audience to experience the creation of an artwork as a live event. This context highlights the role of contemporary art within civic spaces, where it becomes accessible to the general public as part of everyday cultural life.
The work created during the performance was subsequently donated to the foundation, establishing an institutional relationship and positioning the artwork within a public collection. This transition from performance to donation reinforces the integration of his artistic practice into an academic and cultural framework.
This project demonstrates how his artwork operates across multiple contexts, from live performance to public installation, contributing to the expansion of contemporary art within community-based and institutional environments.
